Needs Increase for Charities Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The season of giving is taking on more meaning this year.

Local charities say the need is greater than ever as families struggle with job losses and the pandemic.

Charities across our area are preparing for overwhelming need for programs like the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

“We are seeing an increase in those people making applications,” explains Major Wilma Mason, with the Salvation Army of the Carolinas.

Mason says the Salvation Army is counting on generous “angels” in Charlotte and surrounding counties to step up in this unprecedented time.

“I’m going to put my fears aside and trust that the donations will come through and everyone’s needs will be met this year,” Mason says.
