Skaters Pushing to Save Eastland DIY Skatepark

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Some local skaters are working to save a skatepark in our area.

The Eastland DIY Skatepark has taken over part of the old Eastland Mall site in East Charlotte.

A massive, new development is planned for the site to bring new life to the area, but the skaters say they’re afraid they’re going to be pushed out.

Now, they’re asking developers to include the Skate Park in plans for a park and green space.

The community says it has spent $15,000 on concrete and steel to build the skatepark.

An online petition to save the spot, already has more than 3,100 signatures.
