Cluster Of 5 COVID-19 Cases At UNCC Residence Halls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials with UNC Charlotte say five individuals tested positive for coronavirus from two dorms on campus on November 19th.

UNCC officials say they began routine testing after the virus that causes COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, was found in the wastewater earlier in the week.

Anyone who tested positive has been placed in isolation to get proper medical care, and anyone who came in close contact with these individuals has been placed into quarantine, according to a news release.

UNCC officials say the University’s contact tracing team is notifying anyone who came in contact with the affected individuals, and all other residents who tested negative will be cleared to resume their normal activities.
