Hidden Gems Of CLT: Curio, Craft & Conjure

Watch a new episode of Hidden Gems of Charlotte with Alexandra Elich each Thursday on WCCB News Rising.

CHARLOTTE, NC — What are you missing in your favorite neighborhood?  WCCB Charlotte’s Alexandra Elich explores tucked away spots, historic businesses, and secret gardens in the middle of our bustling city.

On this week’s Hidden Gems of Charlotte, Alex visits Curio, Craft & Conjure.

At Curio, Craft and Conjure you don’t have to know what you’re looking for, but the owners say you’ll usually figure it out. Mother and daughter Gina and Gianna Spriggs own the metaphysical store tucked away on North Davidson Street in the Noda Arts District.

“And they usually ask her, what’s it like working with your mom? And they expect her to say I hate it. But the thing is we live together, we work together, we have a great relationship,” says Gina.

The duo honor magical traditions from around the world.  Books, candles, crystals, incense, tarot cards and more. A treasure trove that opened in July 2018.

“Every time we needed money, the money appeared. Anytime we needed anything it just happened. We weren’t receiving any no’s  from the universe. Everything was a yes,” says Gina.

Magic has always been a huge part of their lives. Gina started reading tarot cards when she was 16-years-old.

“She’s read tarot my entire life. So growing up we had an altar in our house, and I just thought that’s just what everyone had, yeah you have an altar right. Then I go to someone else’s house and they didn’t. And I was like okay,” says Gianna.

The mother and daughter duo’s main message to people.

“If you stay open then you’re staying open to receiving those types of miracles, ” says Gina.
