SLED Investigates Officer Involved Shooting In Chester County

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Investigators say shots were fired during a conflict between deputies with the Chester County Sheriff’s office and one man, no one was injured.

Deputies say they were responding to a 9-1-1 call at a home on High Tower Road in Fort Lawn, when the altercation took place, and the man ran into his house.  That’s when officers say a standoff began which lasted more than 8 hours.

Investigators say the suspect, Gerald Williams, Junior, was taken into custody.

SLED officials say this is the 46th officer involved shooting in South Carolina this year, and the first this year involving the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.
