Fewer Crowds, Same Deals For Black Friday Shopping Amid Pandemic
CHARLOTTE — From the scaled-back store hours to the shorter lines…Black Friday 2020 was a shopping experience unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.
Retailers reinvented the Black Friday Holiday this year. Most major stores remained closed for Thanksgiving unlike in years past, and instead, they launched online sales Thursday night.
Most retailers have been offering deals ahead of time to try to limit the typical crowds on Black Friday due to the pandemic.
“It’s definitely a different shopping experience, but we’re taking the necessary measurements just to make sure everybody is safe,” says Jamar King with Academy Sports and Outdoors.
Games consoles, cookware, and robotic vacuum cleaners were popular among shoppers this year. Many are preparing to spend a lot of time indoors this winter.
