Winter Weather Alert for the Mountains, Much Colder for All
We’re waking up to showers and breezy weather this morning. Rain will gradually clear out, but a few downpours through the early afternoon will be possible. Highs will reach the low 60s early today, with dropping temps throughΒ the afternoon. Cold front bringing much colder air to the region. This cold air will collide with wrap-around moisture from this disturbance bringing rain this morning, allowing a changeover to snow for the mountains. This will be our first accumulating snow event of the season (we had a dusting a few weeks ago). Winter Weather Advisories and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from noon today through Tuesday afternoon for the highest elevations where snow from 1-3″+ will be possible. That on top of blustery conditionsΒ will make blowing snow a concern for those trying to travel as gusts could exceed 50mph. Although no snow for the rest of the region, expect a breezy and cold Tuesday with highs only reaching the mid-40s. It will be a below-average week temperature wise with highs only reaching the low 50s Wednesday. Overnight lows will tumble into the 20s. Rain chances return Friday.
