Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Search For A Person Of Interest After 16-Year-Old Fatally Shot

CMPD detectives say they need the public’s help identifying a person of interest in the homicide of 16-year-old Ruben Contreras.
Officers describe the person of interest as a black man with a facial tattoo, last scene wearing a unique sweater and carrying a handbag, and known to be near North Tryon Street frequently.
Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 704-432-TIPS to speak with a detective or leave a tip anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600

Detectives say they’ve identified the gunshot victim as 16-year-old Ruben Contreras.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On November 7th police responded to a shooting on North Tryon Street where one victim with a gunshot wound died, according to a news release.
Detectives say officers arrived at the scene before 8:20 p.m. to find the victim on the ground, and medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
CMPD says they are opening an investigation into the homicide, and ask anyone with more information to call a Homicide Unit detective at 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
