BOONE, N.C. — Officials say the Boone Police Department will be collecting blankets, hygiene items, and snacks for their Holiday Drive supporting aging community members at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The drive will run through Monday, December 7th to Thursday, December 18th, and there will be a drop box in the lobby of the Boone Police Department for community members to donate items, officials say.
Officials with the Boone Police Department say “We request that the blankets be new, soft and large enough for an adult. The hygiene items requested are for both men and women, such as shampoo and conditioner, deodorant and lotions that are gentle on skin. The snacks and treats should be age appropriate such as chocolates, butterscotch, peppermints, licorice and moon pies. Basically, those that you would think that your Grandma or Grandpa would enjoy!”
Boone police say the drive will hopefully inspire some cheer, since during the holiday season many in local nursing homes will not get to see their families due to the pandemic and some have no families at all.
Police say to call Community Resource Officer Kat Eller at 828-268-6947 for more information about the Holiday Drive.
