KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Deputies say larceny suspect Brandon King is under arrest after hitting an officer with his car while fleeing from police on December 4th.
King is charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, felony fleeing to elude arrest, failure to heed lights or sirens, failure to display vehicle registration, misdemeanor larceny, reckless driving to endanger, resisting a public officer, and speeding, according to a news release.
Kings Mountain officers say they responded to a larceny call at Bridges Hardware around 10:30 a.m., when Officer Bullins found the suspect and a foot chase ensued.
King was able to get to his parked vehicle and lock the doors before police could stop him, and King drove off hitting Officer Bullins with his vehicle, deputies say.
Detectives say Bullins was taken to Atrium Health Cleveland Hospital in Shelby, N.C. where he was treated for his injuries and later released.
Deputies say King continued to flee in his car and ended up in Gaston County in a field near Gibbs Road where he began fleeing on foot.
Officers say they set up a perimeter and KMPD K9 was able to find King at a house on Gibbs Road in Bessemer City, and take him in to the Kings Mountain Police Department to be processed.
Deputies say King has been transported to Cleveland County Magistrate and is being held under a $25,000 bond.
