City Of Gastonia Extends Free Bus Services Through January

GASTONIA, N.C. — Officials with the city of Gastonia Transit system say free bus services will be extended through January 31st, 2021 as a continued effort to help those struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Riders will be required to pay fares again on February 1st, according to a news release.

“Our riders depend on our transit services. To continue helping them during this time is the right thing to do,” said Vincent Wong, Director of Community Services.

City officials say passengers should only use the bus for essential trips, and must follow COVID-19 safety protocol including social distancing and wearing a mask at all times.

Transit officials say the holiday bus schedule is as follows:

  • Christmas Eve – buses will run on Saturday schedule.
  • Christmas Day – no bus service.
  • New Year’s Day – no bus service.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – buses will run on Saturday schedule.
