STATESVILLE, N.C. — Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team say they arrested two individuals for trafficking drugs after conducting a traffic stop on December 7th.
Deputies say driver Donte Tartt, 32, and passenger Shaquill Miller, 29, of a 2017 Jaguar sedan face charges for felony trafficking methamphetamine by possession and transportation, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony trafficking cocaine by possession and transportation, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, and felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.
Deputies say they stopped the Jaguar, with a South Carolina temporary registration plate, for a traffic violation on Interstate 77 near mile marker 62, when Tartt told police the couple was traveling from Columbia, S.C. to West Virginia to go to a casino.
After several inconsistencies in the couples story, police brought K9 Bosco to search the car and found 907 grams of crystal methamphetamine in the driver’s floorboard and 41.2 grams of crack cocaine on Tartt, according to a news release.
Police say Tartt and Miller were arrested at the scene and taken to Iredell County Detention Center to be charged.
Miller is being held on a $1,000,000 secure bond, and Tartt is being held on a $1,250,000 secure bond after being additionally charged with felony trafficking cocaine by possession and transport, and felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine.
