Tracking Return of Clouds, Showers

The cold air will stick around for much of the week ahead before things get wet again by Christmas Eve.

We’ve just had one of the coldest weeks we’ve seen all year, and there won’t be much reprieve as we head into a new one. Expect clouds to return to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area overnight into Sunday, which could be followed by rain, especially to the east of the Metro. While this will be a mainly rain event, some sleet or even a few wet flakes could mix early Sunday morning as lows bottom out in the 20s and 30s. Don’t expect any accumulations, but roads could be slick in the morning, so take it easy on the roads if you have to travel. Some sun should return by the afternoon, allowing highs to return to near-average in the 40s and 50s across the board. The sunny and brisk conditions should continue through much of the holiday week before things could get wet (and wintry for some) on Christmas Eve. Stay tuned!
