Sunshine, Some Warmth Ahead
While it won't exactly be pool weather, above-average temperatures should return by Monday.
The Charlotte Metro just saw its coldest night (17º) in nearly two years, but a warming trend is finally on the way. That being said, don’t prepare for short-sleeves weather to return anytime soon. Sunshine and a more favorable southwesterly wind pattern will allow temperatures to return to slightly above-normal values by the start of the final week of the year. Expect temperatures to nudge into the mid-to-lower 50s in the Piedmont and 40s in the High Country by Monday. Some areas could flirt with the 60s for the first day of the workweek ahead before clouds and cooler temperatures return by midweek. Another strong cold front looks to sweep through the Carolinas by New Year’s Eve, which will bring heavy rain and more Arctic cold along with it to close out 2020.
