Dry Start to 2020’s Final Week

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts! Heavy rain returns to the Carolinas by New Year's Eve.

After a bitterly cold Christmas holiday, get ready to see a return of above-average temperatures as we head into the last week of 2020. Mostly sunny skies and winds out of the southwest will spearhead the warm-up, as highs should top out close to 60º in the Piedmont and upper 40s in the High Country. Expect dry conditions to last through the first half of the week ahead, before a strong cold front arrives by New Year’s Eve. Heavy rain and gusty winds may make outdoor celebration plans difficult late Thursday into Friday, so plan accordingly.

Tonight: Clear and cold. Low: 32°. Wind: S 5-10.
