Police Say They Found Marijuana And Psilocybin Mushrooms Inside Vehicle Involved In Crash That Killed Teen, Injured Three Others In Salisbury

SALISBURY, N.C. – A Salisbury man is facing charges after a crash that killed one person and sent three others to the hospital.

Salisbury Police say 19-year-old Alex Garcia lost control of his car and crashed into a tree on Jake Alexander Boulevard around 6:30 on Sunday morning.  The vehicle reportedly traveled 138 feet before hitting a tree, according to Salisbury Police.

Garcia has minor injuries.  Three other people were in his car, including a 16-year-old who died from his injuries.  The two other passengers are in critical condition.

Police say speed and drug use may have been factors in the crash.  Salisbury Police told WCCB on Monday afternoon that they found marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms in the vehicle following the crash.  The driver could face additional charges in the case.
