Soggy Start to the New Year
Foggy and soggy to kick-off 2021. Showers will become more steady and increasingly heavy as the day progresses. Temps will actually fall a few degrees this afternoon – a good thing as it limits severe storm development. Still, a strong storm or two could impact the far southern tier of the region late this afternoon with damaging wind being the biggest threat. 1-1.5″ of additional rainfall will be possible could cause localized flooding for poor drainage areas. Temps will climb overnight with a drier start to Saturday. Highs will reach the upper 60s under partly cloudy skies. This system that has been giving us dreary weather the past few days will stall off the coast and bring another round of showers Saturday night into Sunday morning. Dry and sunny for the first half of the next week with temps reaching the mid-50s.
