CATS Unveils “Heroes Moving Heroes” Moving Murals Honoring Its Front-Line Workers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Area Transit System officials say they are honoring CAT’s employees, who are working on the front-lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, by placing their faces across two moving art murals titled “Heroes Moving Heroes.”

Officials say the murals, featured on a bus and light-rail vehicle, will show these heroes with and without their masks, and will circulate the city of Charlotte through the end of the current health crisis.

β€œEach front-line worker is someone’s loved one. On one side of the vehicle, people will see transit workers as they normally would – with their mask on. On the other side of the vehicle, the unmasked faces on the mural represent the β€œperson behind the mask,” said Art-in-Transit Program Administrator Chris Lange.

CATS officials want to thank their employees for their continued dedication during such an unprecedented time.

β€œWe want to thank CATS employees for their continued hard-work and sacrifice,” said CATS CEO John Lewis. β€œThe faces on the murals are only a sampling of our 1,300 front-line workers that make it possible to provide transit service to our community.”
