Should The NBA Continue Its Season In The Midst Of Worsening Pandemic?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The coronavirus outbreak has forced difficult decisions for the sports industry. Nearly every major sporting event has been canceled, moved or postponed. And now, the NBA is forced to make more tough decisions about continuing the season.

The league had to cancel Monday night’s game between the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks in Texas, and Tuesday’s game between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls. These cancellations come after multiple games were postponed this weekend.

Despite that, league officials say they will not postpone the season. They say they anticipated hiccups along the way. Twitter users are sounding off saying things like, “I feel like being allowed to start NBA games before results arrive kiiiiind of undermines the entire purpose of COVID testing,” and, “To be honest, I think the NBA should go on freeze till they can all be vaccinated or its just gonna keep resulting in sparse lineups, more injuries, and more players getting COVID.”
