Salisbury Police Give All-Clear After Man Leaves Two Suspicious Packages At Rowan County Health Department

According to the Salisbury Police Department, the Cabarrus County Bomb Squad has removed the packages from the Rowan County Health Department and no incendiary devices were found.

Police say the contents of the packages were only personal items, clothing, and toiletries.

The scene will be released for normal operations Tuesday.

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Salisbury Police Department is investigating two suspicious packages that were dropped off by a man at the Rowan County Health Department Tuesday morning.

Police say a well-dressed man entered the health department, located on East Innes Street, carrying two packages. The man then told staff that they were important and valuable packages and he had to leave them there, according to Salisbury police.

The unidentified man then sat the packages down and took off running through the parking lot, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

The Rowan County Health Department building and parking lot have been evacuated by police. Both Faith Road and Innes Street have been shut down from Avalon Drive to Jake Alexander Boulevard.

The Cabarrus County Bomb Squad is in route and will be assisting with the call.
