Showers and Mountain Snow Friday, Much Colder Weekend

A strong cold front will bring showers to the Piedmont and foothills and a wintry mix to the higher elevations beginning mid to late morning. A quick 1-2″ of snow will be possible for the mountains. Highs will reach the mid the 30s for the high country with the low 50s across the piedmont. Much colder air will filter into the region this weekend. Wind chills will make it feel like the mid 30s through Saturday afternoon for the Charlotte metro area. Winds will die down Sunday, but temps will remain chilly with highs reaching upper 40s. Seasonable highs will return early next week.
