A Windy Wednesday Ahead
Near and slightly above average temperatures dominate the week before a slight weekend cool down.
Wind Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to 1 PM Wednesday for Ashe, Watauga, and Avery counties along with the portions of Caldwell and Burke counties. Northwest winds will be sustained from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
Our weather pattern is rather quiet through the week with little rain chance in the forecast. Late this evening a dry cold front will swing across the area which will slightly drop our temperatures on Wednesday, but not by much. In wake of this dry front, winds will increase. Stronger gusts likely across the Mountains where there is a Wind Advisory in place, but winds gusting up to 25 mph across the Piedmont Wednesday will be possible as well. Our best chance for rain will be late week, but even then the rain chance is low. Isolated showers are possible on Thursday with increasing cloud cover through the day. A lingering shower is possible on Friday, but we will be mainly dry as most of the rain falls south of the WCCB area. In wake of the late week front, expect cooler temperatures through the weekend with highs near 50 and lows in the 20s and 30s.
Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low: 40°. SW 5-10.
