Camp North End Kicks Off “Phase II” Of Renovation Plans

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials with ATCO Properties & Management say “Phase II” of their Camp North End renovation efforts are underway as they begin to build new shops, restaurants, and an open-air public space out of a portion of their 1940’s era warehouse starting this month.

Damon Hemmerdinger, Co-President of ATCO, says “This milestone is a big step forward in our efforts to redefine the modern work environment, to enliven the commercial center of the North End, and to create a place where creativity and innovation thrive.”

Officials share photos of the 120,000 square feet office they plan to build on Camp Road and Keswick Avenue, as well as their final vision for when the renovation is complete.

Officials with ATCO and Shorenstein Properties LLC. say this phase will continue their plan of transforming the 76-acre former industrial site into a gathering place for work, recreation, dining, and living.

Camp North End officials say after renovating the warehouse, they will focus on building their first residential units and structured parking.

ATCO and Shorestein officials say together they will construct 120,000 square feet of Class A office space, 15,000 to 20,000 square feet of retail space, and the plan includes refurbishing two older structures already on the property into retail and office space.

Construction during Phase II is expected to begin this month, and to be completed by early 2023, officials say.
