Another Soggy Day, but Sunny Days are in Sight
Temperatures fall through the second half of the week.
The Cold Air Damming (CAD) won today. While every computer model had the Charlotte area reaching 70Β° today, the Carolina wedge had a different plan. It is known by meteorologists across the Carolinas that cold air hangs around longer than models suggest, but the cold air was VERY stubborn today. There has been a 20Β° temperature difference in neighboring counties today as cold, dense air banks up against the Appalachian Mountains.Β
Isolated showers and mostly cloudy skies are likely overnight along with patchy dense fog. Another soggy day on tap Wednesday as another area of low pressure arrives. This will bring scattered showers to the WCCB area throughout the day withΒ numerous showers on Wednesday evening. We will likely see snow accumulate in the Mountains with only the highest peaks seeing 2+ inches. Some snow flurries Wednesday night across the Foothills and northern Piedmont are possible, but accumulation is not expected. Sunshine, dry conditions, and cooler temperatures will return on Thursday and Friday with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.
Tonight:Β Mostly cloudy. Low: 48Β°. Wind: W/SW 5.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy. Scattered to numerous showers. High: 55Β°. Wind: N 5 -10.
Wednesday PM: Numerous showers. Isolated snow flurries are possible. Low: 34Β°. Wind: N 5-10.
Thursday: Sunny. High: 47Β°. Wind: N/NW 5-15.
Have a wonderful week!
Kaitlin
