Firefighters Investigating Massive Fire At Concord Diner

CONCORD, N.C. — Firefighters are investigating after a diner in Concord caught fire, closing part of Highway 29 Wednesday morning.

The incident happened just before 5 a.m. at the Concord Diner on Sherwood Court. The fire at the diner, that is just off of the Concord Highway, resulted in US Highway 29 north and southbound to be closed from Highway 73 to Sherwood Court.

At the time of the incident, fire and police officials for Concord advised commuters to avoid the area and take an alternate route. Concord Police tweeted about traffic alert due to the fire around 5:15 a.m.

Since then the lanes have reopened. No injuries have been reported from the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
