3 Charlotte Bars Buglarized, Vandalized Officials Say ‘As If COVID Hasn’t Made Times Hard Enough’

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials with Sugar Creek Brewery in Charlotte say Sugar Creek, Queen Park Social, and Protagonist were all burglarized around 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Brewery officials released photos on Instagram and Facebook to say all three bars had been looted “as if COVID hasn’t made times hard enough for the restaurant and bar industry,” and are now asking the public to come forward with any information they might have.

Sugar Creek Brewing officials say cash and registers were smashed, glass was broken, and the taproom was vandalized in the incident.

Sugar Creek’s taproom will be closed temporarily as detectives investigate, but brewery officials invite guests through their private events side of the building, as all three businesses will remain open Sunday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives are investigating, but have not yet released any information.
