Wet & Wintry Weekend Ahead
While most of the white stuff will stay north of I-40 Saturday night, a bit of snow and/or sleet may mix in to the south briefly.
Happy Friday! The rain has moved out of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area, but the clouds will hang around for the time being. We could see some sunshine return to areas north and west of the Metro early tomorrow morning, but gray skies will dominate the Carolinas again by the afternoon. An impressive, moisture-laden disturbance will develop over the northern Gulf before sweeping into our area later on Saturday, which will bring us a wet and wintry setup as we approach the midpoint of the weekend.
While most accumulating wintry totals will remain north of I-40, the Queen City could get in on some sleet or even a few flakes mixing in with rain before becoming an all-rain event early Sunday morning. Right now, the High Country can expect 2-4″ of snow, tapering down to a trace-2″ along the I-40 corridor. The sunshine will return for our Sunday, but don’t expect much warmth! Next week is looking very cold, especially in the latter half.
