Sloppy Saturday Night, Sunday Morning
It looks like the Charlotte Metro is in for another wet mess tonight, where rain totals could reach upwards of .75".
There’s no rest for the weary in the Carolinas, as yet another wintry and wet system approaches from the Gulf. Rain will begin falling shortly before sunset across the board outside of the High Country, before a quick transition to a wintry mix and even some snow along I-40 and northward. While those north of I-85 may get in on a few wet flakes and pellets of sleet, this will mainly be a rain event for the Charlotte Metro and southward. The High Country, meanwhile, could see yet another decent snowfall, totaling upwards of 2-4″ across the board. Most lower elevations will transition back to rain by early Sunday morning, and although a few flurries may wrap around on the backside of the system as it moves out, the bulk of the wintry totals will fall in the overnight.
After a few morning sprinkles, the sunshine should return in full force for our Sunday afternoon. A steady warmup will build in through the first half of the workweek ahead before a cold front brings much colder temperatures to the forefront by next weekend.
