Rankin is also charged with felony speeding and other traffic offenses after fleeing from police in a car, according to a news release.

Police say charges are pending against the third suspect, a juvenile.

Officers say around 9 p.m. they responded to the scene on Nob Hill Drive, where the resident of the home reported hearing gunshots and someone attempting to break-in, before he fled from the house.

Officers say the victim gave a description of the vehicle the suspects were driving, and a short time later, officers were able to locate the suspects car in the area and attempted to stop it.

Police say the driver refused to stop, and a car chase ensued until the suspects car broke down on Roxie Street.

Three of the four occupants were quickly apprehended and are being held at Cabarrus County Jail, according to a news release.

Police say anyone with more information should call Sergeant Brett Wilhelm at 704-920-4114.
