CMPD: Man Arrested, Charged For North Charlotte Murder That Happened In 2019

The Latest (2/9/21):

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man for a fatal north Charlotte shooting that happened in February of 2019.

CMPD identified Treyvon Harris as a suspect in the Tyshawn Boyd homicide case, and a murder warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police say Harris is currently in custody at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office for unrelated charges, were he will be served with the outstanding murder warrant.

Original Story (2/24/19):

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified the man shot and killed in north Charlotte Saturday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Tyshawn Izayiah Rodney Levar Boyd.

The CMPD says officers responded to a call for service in the 1200 block of West Sugar Creek Road, near I-85, at about 3:53 p.m., on Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, a MEDIC unit was in the area and located a man suffering from a gunshot wound on the side of the road.  He was transported to Atrium Main where he was pronounced deceased.
