Rain Returns Thursday

Cloudy and cool today with highs reaching the mid-50s this afternoon. Spotty showers return tonight with lows dipping into the 40s overnight. Rain will become more steady Thursday. 1-1.5″ of rainfall will be possible, leading to localized flooding. Colder air sinks into our region after 8 pm. Likely we will see rain turn to a mix of sleet and freezing rain for areas north of I-40. A light accumulation of ice will be possible, making for a slick start Friday. Rain wraps up, but temps will tumble with highs not getting out of the 40s. Rain and showers will remain in the forecast through early next week.
