Lincoln County Deputies Arrest 2 Men Fleeing From Police In A Stolen Vehicle
LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies say they have arrested two men after they tried to flee from police in a stolen BMW on February 10th.
Chase Bruton, 22, of Charlotte, N.C. and Emanual Allen, 24, of Norwood, N.C. face charges for their involvement in this incident, according to a news release.
Deputy Starnes says on Wednesday he noticed a grayish blue BMW SUV with a burnt out brake light leaving a Quik Trip on Highway 73 traveling west, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop at Cross Cut Drive and Highway 73.
Officers say as they approached the vehicle, the driver sped up to flee from the traffic stop, and Deputy Starnes pursued the vehicle until he lost sight of it.
Police say a short time later they received a call about a car wreck near the entrance to the Trilogy subdivision, and when they investigated further, they found the wrecked vehicle was stolen from Albemarle, N.C.
Officers say additional law enforcement units responded to set up a perimeter as the occupants fled the scene on foot.
Deputies say they received a call from a Trilogy resident, after telling citizens in the area to be vigilant, about spotting the suspects walking on a subdivision street and attempting to enter a home under construction to hide from officers.
Police say both men were found and taken into custody thanks to this tip.
Detectives say Chase Bruton is charged with felony fleeing to elude, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, speeding, traffic violations, damage to property, and breaking and entering, and was placed in custody of the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $22,000 bond.
Emanuel Allen is charged with resisting arrest, delaying and obstructing a public officer, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, damage to property, and breaking and entering, and is in jail under a $19,000 bond, according to police.
