The Latest (2/16/21):
The son of a Gastonia woman killed last month says the suspect in her murder is a former classmate.
41-year-old Francia Martinez was found dead inside her car on West 10th Avenue back on January 21st.
Her son Jonny says he grew up with the 16-year-old boy charged with her murder.
“We went to the same school, we talked here and there, we weren’t like close friends, we were cool,” says Jonny Martinez, the victim’s son.
“Maybe he was trying to give him a ride somewhere,” he says.
Gastonia Police won’t release the teen’s name because of his age. Martinez leaves behind four children.
