French Bulldog Frenzy: Lady Gaga’s Dogs Stolen, Her Dogwalker Shot
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Lady Gaga is offering $500,000, no questioned asked. for the safe return of her dogs. The same person who took her dogs also shot her dog walker; he is expected to be okay.
It happened late Wednesday night in Hollywood. Police say 2 men in a car approached Ryan Fischer as he walked three of the pop star’s French bulldogs. Those men began fighting Fischer for the dogs, and then shot him and took off with two of the dogs named Kogi and Gustav. A third dog named Asia got away, and police found her and she is safe. Fischer is in the hospital recovering.
Officials say it is too early in the investigation to know if Gaga’s dogs were specifically targeted because they belong to her. But dog stealers do tend to target Frenchies in general. According to the American Kennel Club, French bulldogs are the fourth most popular dog breed behind Labradors, golden retrievers, and German shepherds. They can cost as much as $10,000 dollars depending on their pedigree.
Thieves can breed Frenchies, or sell them or their DNA for up to $12,500. In the state of California, where Gaga lives, any person who steals a dog worth more than $950 is guilty of grand theft and could serve prison time.
Lady gaga has not personally spoken out about the incident but her fans have sounded off, posting comments including, “Love you Lady G, but there can be no ‘no questions asked’ when a man was shot. A person of such violence needs to be taken off the streets, period, ” and, “I donβt think celebs should publicize reward amounts because Iβm afraid it would encourage others to copy the evil thieves.”
