Rain, Rollercoaster Temperatures Ahead

Another round of rain will arrive Sunday night and could last through much of Monday.

While it’s not exactly a gorgeous weekend by any stretch, warmer temperatures are bringing a much-needed thaw to the Carolinas after a miserable start to February. A few showers are possible in the morning and we’ll still see more clouds than sun for our Sunday, but temperatures should crack the 70s for only the second time all year in the Charlotte Metro. Unfortunately, we’ll have to go through another round of rain before the sunshine peeks out again. A moisture-laden rainmaking system will encroach from the northwest by Sunday night, which will likely bump up rain chances into the start of the week. Rainfall totals could end up close to a half-inch across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area, with localized heavier spots.

We’ll be back to our sunny ways by Tuesday, but temperatures will top out below-average in the 40s and 50s, despite the clearer skies. Lows will crash back into the 30s both Monday and Tuesday night. More rain may return by Wednesday morning, but we should see more sunshine than clouds for much of the week ahead.
