‘Round Town With Rising: Ballantyne
Get out, see the sights, and ride 'Round Town with Rising to Ballantyne!
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Get out, see the sights, ride ‘Round Town with Rising! Each Tuesday and Thursday we scope out a surprise spot around our city. The latest locale: Ballantyne!
First stop, visit the “Monuments of Ballantyne.” Sure you’ve seen these sculptures, but do you know the backstory? The 30 foot monuments wee commissioned by Charlotte developer Johnny Harris and created by Yugoslavian artist Boris Tomic, who spent the better part of three years crafting them in a brick factory in Salisbury, NC.
Next, it’s time for a little R&R. Whether you’re planning a day trip to the spa, or a weekend staycation — or maybe even a wedding — the luxury Ballantyne Hotel has it all. The Ballantyne Hotel off Ballantyne Commons Parkway is just 18 miles from Uptown and Charlotte Douglas International airport.
And our final stop today: Cullman Park. This peaceful spot tucked away off Ballantyne Corporate Place is a great place to take in a little nature for the people who live and work nearby. The park was completed in 2006 and features, benches, patio tables, a waterfall, a bridge over Cullman Pond and more. Catch and release fishing is also permitted. Visit Cullman Park or one of the other dozen mini parks in Ballantyne.
