CMPD: Detectives Investigate A Fatal Crash Involving A Motorcyclist In East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives say they are investigating a fatal collision in east Charlotte after a motorcyclist was killed Thursday night.

Officers say shortly after 6 p.m. on March 4th they responded to the collision on Albemarle Road at Nathanael Greene Lane to find a 2007 Kawasaki ZX 600-J in flames and a 2015 GMC Sierra with damage to the rear of the truck.

Detectives say the driver of the motorcycle, 26-year-old Devin Williams, was taken to a local hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash, and the driver of the GMC, Alejandro Segoviano, was not injured and remained at the scene.

Investigators say Williams was speeding down Albemarle Road when he approached Nathanael Greene Lane and hit the rear of the truck, which was turning onto Albemarle Road from Nathanael Greene Lane.

Detectives say Segoviano was not impaired or speeding, but speeding is a factor for Williams in the fatal crash.

The investigation into this case remains active and ongoing.

Police say anyone with more information is asked to call Detective Buckley at 704-432-2169, extension 6, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
