Get Fit With The Catawba County Library At New Outdoor Seasonal Fitness Programs

NEWTON, N.C. — Catawba County Library officials say with warm weather approaching there is no better time to get fit and increase your overall well-being with their new free health and fitness opportunities.

Library officials say they are partnering with the N.C. Cooperative Extension and Catawba County Parks to create these upcoming health and fitness programs.

The first program called “Center & Venture” will combine tai chi and hiking at local parks, offering anyone who wants to join 30 minutes of guided stretching and an hour-long hike at a comfortable pace while following recommended social distancing guidelines, according to a news release.

Officials say Dr. George Place, director of the Cooperative Extension and certified personal trainer, will lead the first program on Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons at Riverbend Park and Bakers Mountain Park.
