LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — An investigation is underway after a woman was killed in a Lancaster County house fire early Friday morning, according to officials.
Firefighters responded to the South Carolina home located on South Potter Road around 2 a.m.
Lancaster County deputies arrived on the scene first and was informed that a victim was inside the home. The deputy attempted to locate the person but was initially unsuccessful.
When fire officials responded to the scene they were able to get the fire under control within an hour. The victim, reported to be a 68-year-old woman, was located and pronounced dead.
Officials have not stated how the fire started.
Sheriff’s office investigators were summoned along with the Lancaster County fire marshal and State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arson investigators.
The fire has not been determined to be the result of arson and is under investigation.
