Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop Opens New Location In Huntersville, N.C.
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Sisters Gabby Sillyman and Savannah Lape will open Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop’s newest location on March 13th in Huntersville, with ten percent of proceeds on opening day benefiting local charity Heal Charlotte.
Officials say the new shop will hold a grand opening week from March 9th through March 14th with the following activities:
- Thursday, March 11th: Huntersville Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 4 p.m.
- Friday, March 12th: Bubbles and Brews Charlotte will be on hand from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday, March 13th: First 50 customers receive a free four inch pie for a year card.
- Sunday, March 14th: Celebrate PI DAY! All four inch pies will be $3.14.
Founded by Scott and Meredith Layton in 2013, officials say Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop is a franchise network of local pie shops offering traditional Southern recipes and baking methods, with its original location in Knoxville, Tennessee
“Scott and I are delighted to welcome Gabby and Savannah to the Buttermilk Sky Pie family,” said Meredith Layton. “We look forward to sharing, through Gabby and Savannah, our grandmothers’ treasured recipes, and their Southern traditions of warmth and hospitality, with families in the Huntersville area.”
Local entrepreneurs Sillyman and Lape from Johnson City, Tennessee, who both moved to North Carolina for their careers, say they fell in love with the pie store a few years ago while visiting family back home, and decided to get involved by opening its newest location on Birkdale Commons Parkway.
“My sister and I knew Buttermilk Sky Pie was something special, something we wanted to be part of. Pursuing this dream together makes this experience even sweeter,” said Gabby
Officials say each location, including the new Huntersville location, participates in a charitable program called “Pie It Forward,” where each month a distinct flavor of pie is made to support a local charity and a portion of the proceeds are donated to that month’s partner organization.
“Being involved in their communities is especially important to our franchise family,” said Layton. “The ‘Pie It Forward’ program helps them reach out to the people in their communities who need a helping hand in a real and meaningful way.”
