GASTONIA, N.C. — Detectives with the Gastonia Police Department say 64-year-old Desmond Hunter is under arrest for allegedly setting his ex-girlfriend’s house on fire Saturday night while she was inside the home.
Hunter is charged with first degree murder and first degree arson after a fire was set to the home of Lakisha Edwards, according to a news release.
Investigators say Edwards was the only one at home at the time, and the suspect fled after setting the fire.
Edwards was not injured in the incident and Hunter was arrested Sunday, March 14th after returning to Edwards’ home, according to a news release.
Police say Hunter is being held at the Gaston County Jail.
