The Hickory Ballet Puts On Outdoor And Socially Distanced Performances As Catawba County Library Hosts
NEWTON, N.C. — The Catawba County Library is celebrating spring with special outdoor performances from the Hickory Ballet and Performing Arts coed youth company.
Officials say performers will dance to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, the popular violin concertos from the early 18th century, and rather than using words, dancers will use movement, gestures, and expression to convey the story to viewers.
The performances will take place outside in socially distanced interactive programs, where audience members will have the chance to learn ballet steps themselves, according to a news release.
Officials say the free shows are open to people of all ages who are interested in learning more about dance, music, and the arts.
Officials say the performances will take place as follows:
- Saturday, March 20th at 11 a.m. at Conover City Park on 5th Avenue SE.
- Saturday, March 20th at 3 p.m. at Claremont City Hall on East Main Street.
- Saturday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at Southside Park on Southwest Boulevard in Newton, North Carolina.
Officials say viewers will have time to take socially-distanced photos with the dancers after each performance, and the Library to Go will be set up for attendees who would like to check out books and learn more about library resources.
