Food Truck Friday Is Back In University City

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Starting March 19th University Food Truck Fridays are back at Armored Cow Brewery in Charlotte supporting local food vendors, musicians, and pop-up shops.

Officials say the weekly event will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays, and visitors are encouraged to either pick up food to-go or enjoy their meal while social distancing and listening to live music.

“It’s so important to continue to support the businesses that bring us great experiences and good food,” says Darlene Heater, Executive Director of University City Partners. “Our Food Truck Fridays are a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively. The community can enjoy a safe time outdoors and our local small business owners gain an opportunity to work.”

Food trucks will use parking spaces surrounding the brewery to set up shop, and visitors can expect to see different food trucks, live music, and new vendors every week, officials say.

Officials say the food truck event began in fall of 2020 as part of the City of Charlotte’s StreetEats program, that allowed some of the city’s favorite restaurants to open temporary outdoor seating, in order to help businesses impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
