ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill police shut down a local road Wednesday morning as they conducted a homicide investigation.
Officers responded to Ligon Drive around 5:35 a.m. after receiving a call for a shooting with a victim. Upon arrival, they located 25-year-old man near the roadway who was fatally shot. The victim was found behind several business near Riverview Road including a Hooters and Outback Steakhouse.
The person that called the police to report the shooting identified himself as the suspect. The caller also stated he was in a vehicle stopped on Mount Gallant Road. The York County Sheriff’s Office had deputies nearby who located the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Nathan Thomas, and took him into custody.
According to officials, Thomas was transferred to Rock Hill Police custody and taken to the Rock Hill Jail where warrants were issued for Murder, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Grand Larceny Auto.
The police department tweeted around 8 a.m. that Ligon Drive was closed as they conducted the investigation.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
