YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged for committing criminal sexual conduct with a minor in York, South Carolina, police say.
The arrest was made after the York Police Department received a call on Friday from the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ Charlotte Field Office stating that they had received information that a North Carolina minor was supposed to be at a home in York with a man.
The allegation was described to consist of possible criminal sexual conduct between a man and a minor, and the FBI requested that the York Police Department conduct a well-being check on the minor. The minor was located at the home and transported to the York Police Department for further investigation.
The accused suspect, identified as Joseph Frances Tippett, was arrested and taken to the York County Detention Center where he was charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct.
This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
