NC Lawmakers to Introduce Package of LGBTQ-Inclusive Bills
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Tuesday, a group of state lawmakers will introduce a package of LGBTQ inclusive bills in the North Carolina General Assembly.
This latest push comes five years after Charlotte’s non-discrimination ordinance led state lawmakers to pass controversial House Bill 2.
State leaders were upset over a provision allowing people to use the bathroom matching their gender identity.
“HB2 taught us that going the anti-LGBTQ route is not a fiscally responsible thing to do, if nothing else. Our economy is only just now recovering from all the various hits that we took,” says local activist Paige Dula.
