Deputies: Man Arrested For Crimes Involving A Child, Weapons, And Drugs In Rowan County
SALISBURY, N.C. — Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office say 38-year-old John Leach is under arrest for crimes involving narcotics and weapons violations as well as previous charges for sex offenses with a child.
Salisbury Police say Leach had outstanding warrants for assault of a child under 12, statutory sex offense with a child, incest with a child under 13, and indecent liberties with a child, when the United State’s Marshall’s Service located Leach at a house on Harris Road in Salisbury on March 31st, 2021.
Detectives say during a search of the home they found two firearms in Leach’s possession and seized 494 grams of suspected heroin, other narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and money.
Investigators say following the search, Leach was charged with felony maintaining a dwelling to keep and store drugs, trafficking heroin, possession with intent to sell/deliver a schedule I controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Leach is being held at the Rowan County Detention Center under a $800,000 secured bond for both his outstanding charges and new charges, according to police.
Detectives say the investigation remains active and ongoing as other arrests may occur.
