Two Suspects Arrested After Missing Rowan County Woman Found Dead
The Latest:
Police say the main suspects in this case, Brooke Griffin and Michael Banks, have been arrested and placed in custody of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office under a $100,000 secured bond each.
Update (3/29/21):
Detectives say warrants have been filed against two people in connection to the death of 45-year-old Tammy Becerra in Rowan County.
Michael Joe Banks and Brooke Lynn Griffin are currently wanted and facing charges for felony concealment of a death and failure to report a death, according to a news release
Investigators say Becerra likely overdosed on illegal drugs while she was at a residence on Canyon Lane. Witness and suspect interviews lead investigators to believe that Banks and Griffin put Becerra’s body in a vehicle and then left her body on Alana Drive following the alleged overdose, according to a news release.
Detectives say further charges for others involved in the case are under review by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the Rowan County District Attorney’s Office. Anyone with information on Banks or Griffin’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.

ROWAN CO., N.C. — Investigators with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office say a missing Kannapolis woman’s body was found in the woods on Tuesday.
Detectives say the found body was identified as 45-year-old Tammy Becerra, who was reported missing by her son just two days prior.
Deputies say they were dispatched to the area of Shupling Mill Road and Alana Drive on March 23rd where they found the dead body a short distance off the highway in a wooded area.
Detectives say there were no obvious signs of trauma found on the body, which has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Raleigh, N.C., and investigators are waiting for a report back on a possible cause of death.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Kannapolis Police Department in this ongoing investigation.
