“Balancing Act” in First Ward Park

Interactive musical public art display

301 E. 7th Street

I continue to look for fun, free things you can do outdoors, adults or kids! “Balancing Act” is in First Ward Park…right across from the 7SPM. Just sit, sand or jump on these three colorful discs and they make music. Single or group activity! It was created by a Montreal-based art and design studio. The Arts and Science Council had a hand in this. Romare Bearden Park has a permanent musical bouncing installation, plus hollow pipes that you can play like a vertical xylophone.

Pro tip: You can park in that 7-story deck attached to the 7SPM, pop into the Market for coffee, lunch, a snack or dinner and get your parking validated for the first hour and a half. Then, enjoy the park. You can also ride the light rail for extra added adventure!!

-and more

There are ample options for dinner and shopping in surrounding businesses as well…you can make a day and night of it! There is parking, including a pay deck and lot on each side, or you can take the light rail. You will need a mask.
