Local Dentists See Increased Teeth Grinding Amid Pandemic
CHARLOTTE, NC —
During the pandemic, many Americans have experienced anxiety that has led to teeth grinding. While there are many downsides to teeth grinding, the increase has led to chipped teeth and the urgent need to repair dental structures including fillings that may have cracked or become lose. Dr. Drew Lyons of Smile Savvy Cosmetic Denistry shares what to do to prevent teeth grinding and how you can be proactive in ending the habit.
Dr. Drew and Dr. Joya Lyons just celebrated the seventh year of their business, Smile Savvy Cosmetic Dentistry – the state’s only cosmetic dentistry practice owned by a black couple. The two cosmetic dentists met during an enrichment program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, reconnecting years later when they ended up in the same dental program at Meharry Medical College. Since its inception, Smile Savvy Cosmetic Dentistry has focused heavily on helping those in the community—and beyond—get the smiles they have always wanted. And, despite the pandemic, the entrepreneurs continue to succeed. Featured in Dental Town magazine, the couple services clients nationally and has a growing client base in North Carolina.
